Plateau Placed in Leader Quadrant in 2005 Learning Management Systems Magic Quadrant

Plateau Position Based on Completeness of Vision and Ability to Execute

Arlington, Va. • November 2, 2005 - Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational skills and talent, today announced that it has been placed in the Leader Quadrant in the Gartner 2005 Learning Management Systems (LMS) Magic Quadrant report (*). Vendors in the Leaders quadrant have the highest combined measures of ability to execute and completeness of vision. They are performing well today, have a clear vision of the market direction and are actively building competencies to sustain their leadership position in the market.

"Our vision is driven by our deep understanding of customer challenges and opportunities, and the strategies we employ to address them are central to our success," said Paul Sparta, chairman and CEO of Plateau Systems. "I am also pleased with our solid execution this year, as evidenced by our strong growth, continuing profitability, and high customer satisfaction. Our J2EE technology, functionality, and best practices experience will continue to benefit the increasing number of organizations moving to a single enterprise-wide learning management system, as well as the many organizations now taking an integrated approach to learning and performance management."

For completeness of vision, Gartner evaluated vendors on Market Understanding, Marketing Strategy, Sales Strategy, Offering (Product) Strategy, Business Model, Vertical/Industry Strategy, Innovation and Geographic Strategy. Ability to execute was determined by Product/Service, Overall Viability (Business Unit, Financial, Strategy, Organization), Sales Execution/Pricing, Market Responsiveness and Track Record, Marketing Execution, Customer Experience and Operations.

Leaders this year must have demonstrated enterprise deployments, financial viability, and integration with other business applications and other e-learning products. Leaders must also have strong channel partners, a presence in multiple regions, consistent financial performance, broad platform support, good customer support, the most-comprehensive and scalable products, and the ability to deliver all of the key LMS capabilities.
