Department of Energy Completes Agency-Wide Plateau Learning Deployment in Under 60 Days

Rapid Deployment of Plateau to Enable Higher Training Consistency and Reduced Costs

Arlington, Va. • July 19, 2005 - Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational skills and talent, today announced that the Department of Energy (DOE) has completed its agency wide deployment of Plateau Learning in under 60 days. Plateau Learning is now the central learning platform for 25,000 DOE employees and contractors.

DOE had been using two disparate learning management systems, before standardizing on Plateau to improve training consistency and reduce administrative costs. In less than 60 days, DOE loaded its custom and off-the-shelf content from its legacy learning management systems, set up training items and workflows, configured the Plateau user interface through Plateau's advanced branding capabilities and trained its employees and systems administrators.

Plateau is now available to all 15,000 internal DOE employees and 10,000 DOE contactors, including those that operate several DOE plants such as the Strategic Petroleum Reserve operated by DynMcDermott, the Hanford and Nevada plants operated by Bechtel National, the Kansas City plant operated by Honeywell Federal Manufacturing and Technologies and the Pantex plant operated by BWXT Pantex.

Federal agencies are accelerating their use of learning management solutions. Plateau has a presence in eight of 15 federal cabinet-level agencies. It's the agency-wide solution for the departments of Agriculture, Energy and Veterans Affairs, and is also deployed by the Air Force within Defense; the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms within Justice; the Transportation Security Administration within Homeland Security; the Federal Aviation Administration within Transportation; and the Internal Revenue Service within Treasury.

"We are seeing tremendous adoption of our solutions within the federal government," said Paul Sparta, chairman and CEO of Plateau Systems. "Word travels fast between agencies when it comes to successful implementations. This fact, coupled with productivity increases realized through training and employee development, has motivated more and more government agencies to deploy our solutions."

The President's Management Agenda identified learning as a key initiative for the effective development and retention of a high-quality and diverse federal workforce. The Office of Personnel Management recently awarded Plateau a contract to provide learning and performance management software and services to federal agencies through the Gov Online Learning Center (GoLearn).

Plateau Learning enables organizations to create, deliver and track just-in-time learning tied to job competencies and job performance requirements.
