University of New Mexico Standardizes on Plateau for Learning

Enterprise-Wide System to Reduce Costs and Increase Effectiveness of Employee Training

Arlington, Va. • July 6, 2005 - Plateau Systems, a leading provider of software for developing, managing and optimizing organizational skills and talent, today announced that the University of New Mexico (UNM) has selected Plateau Learning to deliver training across all of its facilities, including all healthcare facilities and hospitals. UNM is currently using two learning management systems within several of its facilities. It chose to standardize on Plateau to reduce administrative costs and increase training quality and consistency

"The time was right for us to standardize on a single platform for learning," said Ella Sitkin, executive director, IT, University of New Mexico Hospital. "We had outgrown our departmental learning management systems and wanted to adopt a state of the art enterprise solution. By deploying Plateau across our facilities, we expect to reduce the administrative costs associated with maintaining multiple systems and significantly elevate the quality and consistency of our training."

UNM has more than 33,000 students and 15,000 faculty and staff, and is designated as a Carnegie Research/Doctoral Extensive institution. UNM Health Sciences Center is the largest integrated healthcare treatment and education complex in the state of New Mexico. It consists of eight distinct health care facilities, including University of New Mexico Hospital (UNMH), Children's Hospital of New Mexico, UNM Hospital Family Practice Center and Senior Health Center, UNM School of Medicine, UNM Cancer Research and Treatment Center, UNM Psychiatric Unit, UNM Children's Psychiatric Center and the Carrie Tingley.

UNM will use Plateau to design, develop, deliver, track, analyze and evaluate classroom and online educational activities. It will also use Plateau to measure competencies, align competencies to job position and business practices, track training costs and link them to cost centers and perform compliance certification for regulatory reporting.

There is a significant trend among organizations to standardize on a single enterprise-wide LMS. According to a June 2005 Bersin & Associates report entitled "The High Impact Learning Organization," organizations that spend time and money implementing an enterprise-wide LMS have much higher effectiveness and efficiency than those that do not.

"The cost savings and performance improvements associated with an enterprise solution are driving companies to standardize on an enterprise-wide LMS," said Paul Sparta, chairman and CEO of Plateau Systems. "Plateau Learning provides scalability, administration and change management capabilities to support the most demanding customer requirements. As a result, Plateau powers the largest corporate, non-profit and government enterprise learning management initiatives in production today."
