Plateau Listed in the Leader Quadrant in 2004 Learning Management Systems Magic Quadrant
Top industry analyst firm evaluates company based on its completeness of vision and ability to execute
ARLINGTON, VA • April 21, 2004 - Plateau Systems, the leading provider of enterprise software that manages learning and knowledge readiness, announced today that it has been placed in the leader quadrant in the 2004 Gartner Learning Management System Magic Quadrant - a comprehensive analysis that is considered a main barometer of the enterprise LMS industry.
Gartner Inc., an influential technology research and advisory firm based in Stamford, Conn., reviewed 24 LMS companies in the report, titled: "Magic Quadrant for Learning Management Systems, 1H04." Gartner describes leaders in the report as "companies that demonstrate good, scalable product capabilities and features, a strong installed base, acceptable financial performance and good distribution. Leaders are doing well today and prepared for the future."
In the LMS report, Gartner reiterates the importance of open architecture and Web services as companies move forward with enterprise-wide LMS implementations. "Enterprises want an LMS they can integrate with their other software applications, including (but not limited to) enterprise portals. Since more and more software is becoming an overall enterprise software stack, e-learning vendors must adapt, and doing this means they will have to support open architectures and Web services," the Gartner report states.
Plateau 4 LMS is the only enterprise-class LMS built fully on open, J2EE/EJB architecture, considered the industry standard for enterprise software. Plateau 4's support of Web Services allows the company's customers to integrate the LMS with virtually every ERP and e-Learning application available today. Earlier this year, the company introduced Plateau OpenSuite™, the industry's first enterprise e-Learning suite that utilizes open architecture frameworks to provide customers with the broadest spectrum of best-of-breed technologies.
As a company, Plateau prospered financially in 2003 while much of the e-Learning industry was adversely affected by the economy. The company grew its revenues by more than 75 percent in 2003, and it now supports learning for more than 8 million people around the world. Plateau has been profitable in its last five consecutive quarters, and estimates that it will continue to be profitable throughout 2004.
"With the introduction of Plateau OpenSuite and the continued market success of Plateau 4 LMS, Plateau retains its significant technological edge in the LMS industry," said Paul Sparta, Plateau's Chairman and CEO. "In every deal where enterprise architecture is an issue, Plateau has a clear advantage. We are honored that Gartner has placed Plateau in the leader quadrant. We intend to maintain and enhance our position by offering the best suite of products and services in the industry."
