Military Training Technology Names Plateau Systems one of the Top 100 Military Training Companies of 2003
Magazine cites Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) for its significant impact on military distance learning and knowledge transfer
ARLINGTON, Va. - November 17, 2003 Plateau Systems, the leading provider of enterprise learning management systems (LMS), announced today that Military Training Technology magazine has named Plateau one of the most influential military training companies in the United States in its 2003 Military Training Technology Top 100. The MT2 Top 100 is an annual award given to companies that have made a significant impact in the military training industry. The magazine's editorial board selected the winners after reviewing military training technologies including: distance learning, live training, simulations, modeling, geospatial intelligence, and image generation.
Plateau Systems was selected for its impact on distance learning. Plateau 4 Learning Management System (LMS) enables organizations to manage all of their training initiatives - from classroom instruction to e-Learning and live exercises - on a single software platform. A wide range of military organizations, including the Military Health System (TRICARE), the U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training Command (AETC), and the Air Force Information Warfare Center (AFIWC), use Plateau's software to consolidate learning management and enhance operational readiness across their commands. AETC, for example, uses Plateau's LMS to manage 13 million learning events for roughly 200,000 Air Force personnel.
Military Training Technology approached more than 300 candidates and also invited any company that thought it was deserving of the distinction to apply for the award. Companies were selected based on criteria including revenue, total military sales, end-user feedback and innovations. The magazine readership includes Pentagon leaders, the U.S. Congress, every major service training command, NATO and Washington, D.C.'s embassy community. Other companies named to the MT2 Top 100 include Booz Allen Hamilton, Lockheed Martin, Macromedia and SI International.
More than ever it is paramount that the men and women in our armed forces have the best possible training available in order to successfully accomplish the mission, said Jordan Fuhr, editor of Military Training Technology. The MT2 Top 100 defines the best technology providers who facilitate that training, by using technology to deliver learning to the fingertips of our country's military personnel.
The U.S. military is a consistent leader and innovator in its approach to training and knowledge readiness, said Paul Sparta, CEO and chairman of Plateau Systems. Plateau is very proud of our work with the military, which dates to the mid-1990s, and we will continue to develop enterprise software that enables the U.S. armed forces to meet the training demands necessary for military success both today and tomorrow.
Plateau 4 LMS is now in its third year of being a fully Web-enabled, J2EE/EJB-based system. J2EE is considered the industry standard for enterprise software, and has been recommended by federal government officials as the preferred architecture for all major e-Gov initiatives.
