Pre-Conference Courses

All pre-conference courses are charged as an additional fee. Please note that the Report Designer class will be a two day class starting on Sunday, October 31, 2010. All other classes will be held on Monday, November 1, 2010.

Two Day: Report Designer 
This course introduces participants to the Plateau Report Designer and how to use this tool to edit an existing report provided by Plateau. Participants gain hands-on experience researching the Plateau data model, report structure, making format changes to a report, and making minor changes to SQL queries. Participants will test the report in the Plateau application and troubleshoot as necessary. In day two, participants learn to edit queries to add/change fields, add search selectors, modify report layout, and roll out the report in Plateau Learning. Participants will also add a chart to display results. Prerequisite: Experience using SQL. *SQL Prep Course required - will be offered on a free webex, info to come

Online Content Management 
This session will focus on integrating third-party content with the Plateau TMS. The course is designed to be an introductory overview and will not delve into technical details. The following topics will be discussed (time permitting):

  • Overview of AICC, SCORM, and the Plateau Tracking Functions
  • Common issues with content integration
  • Content troubleshooting tips

You've Got Mail: Enhancing Plateau Email Notifications 
Create clear, attractive email notifications that provide your users with the best possible instructions. Join us for our "You’ve Got Mail: Enhancing Plateau Email Notifications ”. Participants will learn how to make notification emails more attractive using HTML and Direct Links. This class is often requested and should fill up quickly, so register soon! (Note: Basic HTML knowledge a plus) You will Learn How To:

  • Customize notifications used in the Plateau Talent Management System (TMS) using HTML and Direct Links
  • Create a Notification Label
  • Identify which syntax tags are available for use in which notifications
  • Modify notifications to include HTML and Direct Links
  • Trigger a Registration Notification E-mail

Enhancing the Plateau Admin Experience 
Do you want to add email address, or something similar, as a filter to the user search? Would you like to show Last Updated User and Last Updated Timestamp in the search results? Would you like to globally hide the Phone Number tab, or another tab, on the user record because you are not using it? Then come join us for Enhancing the Plateau Admin Experience where we will streamline the Plateau Admin interface to help admins find and navigate records quickly and efficiently.

During this preconference course, we will:

  • Update the Search Selector XML to add filters to the User, Item, Scheduled Offering, and Assignment Profile searches
  • Update the Search Selector XML to display Last Updated User and Last Update Timestamp
  • Update the Module Tab XML to hide and move tabs within the User, Scheduled Offering, and Assignment Profile records
  • Update labels to rename Supervisor to Manager

Please note: This course requires basic knowledge of SQL. Plateau offers a free “SQL for Plateau Report Designers” virtual training course if participants need assistance learning SQL basics. This training is offered via pre-recorded WebEx sessions.

Do you have a difficult or complex certification program? Do you need to setup automatic initial or retraining periods? After completing this pre-conference session you will be able to configure requirements, manage initial and retraining periods as well as use curricula and sub-curricula effectively.

Develop a Feedback Loop w/ Evaluations & Surveys 
Evaluations are a powerful tool that allow for surveys and evaluations to be tracked for User Satisfaction (level 1), pre-test and post-test reporting (level 2) and Adaptation of Learning (level 3). After completing this session you will be able to create and configure level 1 and 3 evaluations as well as run reports for pre and post tests.
