Senior Software Engineer

Organization/Department: Product Engineering - DEV
Reports to: Director of Development

Description:

Plateau is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to work out of our Headquarters office in Arlington, VA, supporting our Product Engineering division.

Job Duties include:

    • Design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications
    • Support and/or install software applications
    • Participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software
    • Employ commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures in software development, particularly in J2EE
    • Conform to instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job
    • Work independently at times and sometimes under supervision
    • Primary job functions do require exercising independent judgment at times
    • Typically reports to a senior/lead engineer or a manager
    • A certain degree of creativity and latitude is required

Required Qualifications:

    • 3 - 5 years of overall software development experience, 2 years in Java
    • Expert in front-end technologies including HTML, DHTML, CSS, JSP and JavaScript
    • 1 year of hands-on architecture and development experience in J2EE including JSP, Servlet, EJB, JMS, JDBC, JNDI and Struts (Apache)
    • Working knowledge of OOA/OOD, UML, design patterns and software development life cycle
    • Hands-on experience in SOAP/WSDL/UDDI
    • Working experience in more than one of the following market-leading application servers:  WebLogic, WebSphere, SunOne, Oracle 9iAS, Jboss/Tomcat
    • Working experience on either Oracle 8i/9i or DB2 8.1
    • Working knowledge on XML, DTD/Schema, SAX/DOM and Java programming with XML
    • Enthusiastic, reliable individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills
    • B.S. in Computer Science; Master’s Degree preferred
